I gave in.
The comments on last night's post were enough to persuade me. :)
I had to go to the dentist this morning, so I ran in Hobby Lobby. I won't tell you how many times I've been in there this week, because it's a little embarrassing. I'll just say that this ties with my previous record of how many times I've been in a craft store in a week (but in all fairness, each visit was under unusual circumstances. We usually only go into town one or two days a week).
I stood in front of the crochet hooks and knitting needles (please tell me I got that right) for some time, staring at all of the numbers and letters and colors. A lady asked me if I saw any "insert some fancy sounding needles here," and I admitted that I'm just beginning and have no idea what I'm doing.
Starting a new craft is hard for me. I like to know what I'm doing, though of course I'm always learning. When I go in a craft store, I usually know exactly what I'm looking for. This time I only had the vaguest idea.
I ended up buying a set of size 11 (8 mm) bamboo knitting needles, a size H (5 mm) crochet hook, and a package (skein?) of cheap Red Heart yarn.
I've decided to attempt to learn both knitting and crochet at the same time, though I don't know how that will work out. I'll probably be getting very confused. But I'm going to focus more on knitting for now. Mostly because the knitting needles are so huge, foreign, and intimidating that I need to face my fear and go for it. The crochet hook is small and friendly in comparison. :)
I'm off to YouTube to watch some knitting videos and give this a go. :) Wish me luck.
Until next time,
