About Me

My name is Kristin. My middle name is Ann, without an "e."
(I hope to eventually get over that little disappointment, kindred spirits.)

God has my heart. I'm striving to be the person I should be for Him. In the words of Switchfoot, I'm a crooked soul trying to stand up straight.

I am a vintage girl at heart. A black and white movie (or tacky Technicolor), big band music, scratchy records sort of girl. I love things from time past.

I am a bookworm, seamstress, embroiderer, {very new} knitter, piano player, daughter, sister. I'm a homebody and a quiet introvert. I like to watch people and look for beauty everywhere.

I am twenty-one years old and have my associates degree in early childhood education. I was a homeschooler. My family has a farm, with goats, chickens, pigs, and sheep. I have a twenty pound orange-and-white cat named Jack who likes to sleep (shocking!), eat, and occasionally fall from our staircase railing. I'm the guardian of a spastic black cat named Ollie (Oliver) who enjoys sprawling out on my desk when I'm trying to read, watching me sew, and attacking Jack.

I love: the smell of rain, records, children, natural products and foods, the sound of my sewing machine, black and white pictures, Sinatra's voice, vintage clocks, libraries, journaling, snow, Gene Kelly, "I Love Lucy," all things Disney, Elvis, key lime pie, classy black and white films, thunderstorms, Jane Austen's novels, sunflowers, Judy Garland, getting something in the mail, cheesy Technicolor musicals, embroidery patterns, chocolate, the color yellow, Cary Grant, clouds, moss, cats, the smell of coffee, family vacations, laughter, Jimmy Stewart, good books, zoos, terrariums, and a million other things.

You can see a list of my favorites here.

I strongly dislike: cell phones, swearing, bananas, scary drivers, celery, bugs {with the exception of butterflies, inchworms, and lady bugs}, the smell of cigarette smoke, e-readers, electric fences, tanning beds, price stickers that leave sticky residue on new books, and a few other things.

I am afraid of: getting out of my comfort zone, spiders, public speaking, snakes, icy roads, crowds, driving in unfamiliar places, sleeping in a pitch-dark room, and changes.

I want to: be successful with my Etsy shop, travel to Europe (particularly England), become a stay-at-home wife and mother, homeschool my children, live in the country forever, and leave something worthwhile behind.

That's me.
